Diamond Sky is a simple, classic, and flattering scoop neck sweater. It is worked seamlessly from the top down with a beautiful textured brocade to keep the knitting engaging and interesting.

Basic information

Needles and Accessories:

4.0 mm [US 6] 32’’ and 24’’ circular and DPNS.

4.5 mm [US 7] 32’’ circular and DPNS.

Or size needed to obtain gauge.

Holders or scrap yarn,stich markers,tapestry needle.

Yarn:

Blue Sky Fibers Woolstok (Worsted; 100% Fine Wool;

50 G/123 YDS/112 M per skein; 6 (6, 6, 7, 8) skeins used;

No. 1318 Thermal Spring).

Yardage:

651 (738, 781, 868, 976) YDS / 595 (674, 714, 794, 893) M.

Gauge:

6 sts and 5 rows= 1’’ in textured brocade with larger needles.

Please check gauge in order to obtain desired fit.

Sizes and finished measurements

Women’s sizes: XS (S, M, L, XL)

Bust measurements: 30 (34, 36, 40, 45)’’ / 76 (86, 92, 102, 114) cm.

Model is wearing a size small on a 34’’ bust.

Sweater fits with 2’’/5 cm positive ease.

Finished length: 15.5 (16, 16.5, 17.5, 18)’’ / 39 (41, 42, 45, 46) cm from underarm.

Finished bust: 32 (36, 38, 42, 47)’’ / (82, 92, 97, 107, 119) cm.

Instructions

Yoke

With larger circular needles, CO 56 (62, 64, 64, 67) sts using the long tail method. Do not join work in the round.

Set-up row:P1 (left front), pm, p15 (left sleeve), pm, p24 (30, 32, 32, 35) (back), pm, p15 (right sleeve), pm, p1 (right front).

Note: you will not have enough stiches to work the full textured pattern while increasing, so just work as much of it as you can. Until instructed, work flat textured brocade.

Increase row (RS): Textured pattern to 1 st before m, m1R, k1 sm, k1, m1L, k to 1 st before m, m1R, k1, sm, k1, m1L, textured pattern to 1 st before m, m1R, k1, sm, k1, m1L, k to 1 st before m, m1R, k1, sm, k1, m1L, textured pattern to end (8 st increased).

Row 2 (WS): Textured pattern to 1 st before m, p1, sm, p to m, sm, p1, textured pattern to 1 st before m, p1, sm, p to m, sm, p1, textured pattern to end.

Repeat these 2 rounds 14 (15, 15, 15, 17) more times.

You should have: 176 (190, 192, 192, 211) sts: 16 (17, 17, 17, 19) sts for each front, 45 (47, 47, 47, 51) sts for each sleeve, and 54 (62, 64, 64, 71) sts for the back).

Increase row (RS): k1, m1L,textured pattern to 1 st before m, m1R, k1, sm, k to m, sm, k1, m1L, textured pattern to 1 st before m, m1R, k1, sm, k to m, sm, k1, m1L, textured pattern to 1 st before end, m1R, k1 (6 st increased).

Next row (WS): Textured pattern to 1 st before m, p1, sm, p to m, sm, p1, textured pattern to 1 st before m, p1, sm, p to m, sm, p1, textured pattern to end.

Repeat these 2 rounds 8 (8, 9, 10, 10) more times.

You should have: 230 (244, 252, 258, 277) sts: 34 (35, 37, 39, 41) sts each front, 45 (47, 47, 47, 51) sts each sleeve, 72 (80, 84, 86, 93) sts for the back).

On a RS row: Textured pattern to 1 st before m, k1, sm, k to m, sm, k1, textured pattern to 1 st before m, k1, sm, k to m, sm, k1, textured pattern to end and CO 2 (4, 6, 8, 8) sts with backwards loop method.

Separate sleeves from body

From now on, work textured pattern in round.

Careful not to twist sts work textured pattern to 1 st before m, k1, remove m, place next 45 (47, 47, 47, 51)sts onto holder yarn, CO 16 (16, 18, 20, 22) sts placing marker in middle, remove m, textured pattern to m, remove m, place next 45 (47, 47, 47, 51)sts on holder yarn, remove m, CO 16 (16, 18, 20, 22) sts placing marker in middle (BOR).

Body

Note: increase/decrease to fit pattern on next round. Continue st pattern across first marker in round.

You should have 174 (186, 200, 212, 227) sts.

Continue in textured pattern until piece measures 13.5 (14, 14, 14.5, 15)’’/ 34 (36, 36, 37, 38) cm from underarm or 2 (2, 2.5, 3, 3)’’/ 5 (5, 6, 8, 8) cm less than desired length, ending after completing 12throw of textured st.

Switch to smaller circular needle.

Next round: *k1, p1* to end. Note: decrease to fit ribbing pattern.

Continue in rib for 2 (2, 2.5, 3, 3)’’ / 5 (5, 6, 8, 8) cm.

BO in pattern.

Sleeves

Right and left sleeve are worked the same.

Slip sleeve stiches onto larger DPNS. Pick up and knit 16 (16, 18, 20, 22) sts at underarm and place marker in center of picked up sts, join in round, being careful not to twist sts.

K 5 rounds.

Decrease round:sm, k2tog, k to 2 sts before end, ssk.

Repeat decrease round every 4 rows 12 (14, 16, 18, 20) times.

Continue until sleeve measures 14 (14.5, 15, 15.5, 15.5)’’ / 36 (37, 38, 39, 39) cm from underarm or 3’’ / 8 cm less than desired sleeve length.

Switch to smaller DPNS.

Next round: *k1, p1* to end.

Continue in rib for 3’’/ 8 cm.

BO in ribbing.

Neck band

Using smaller and shorter circular needle, pick up neck stiches in following manner starting at top of right raglan: pick up every st along back and left raglan, 2 sts for every 3 sts along front, every st along right raglan.

Total number of sts should be an even number.

Next round: *k1, p1* to end.

Continue in rib for 3 total rows.

BO in pattern.

Finishing:

Weave in ends using darning needle. Block sweater to measurements.

RS: right side

WS: wrong side

m1R: pick up the strand between the sts from back to front,

knit through the front loop of the st.

m1L: pick up the strand between the sts from front to back,

knit through the back loop of the st.
